The Nimbochromis venustus, also known as the Giraffe Hap, is a striking African cichlid recognized for its golden-yellow body patterned with giraffe-like brown blotches. Known for its ambush hunting behavior in the wild, it’s a confident and active fish that does best in large aquariums with robust tankmates. Males display even brighter colors with shimmering blues on the face and fins during breeding. This species is best suited for experienced aquarists with spacious Malawi setups.

• Recommended For: Large Malawi and predator cichlid tanks

• Minimum Tank Size: 300 litres

• Temperature Range: 24–28°C

• pH Range: 7.5–8.5

• Recommended School Size: Best kept singly or as a harem (1 male with multiple females)

• Compatibility: Semi-aggressive; suitable with other large, robust Malawi species

• Max Size: 25–30 cm
