The Nothobranchius palmqvisti is a vibrant African killifish known for its stunning turquoise-blue body, bright red spotting, and graceful fins. Native to temporary pools in East Africa, this species is an “annual killifish,” meaning it completes its life cycle quickly in the wild — but in aquariums, with proper care, it can often live longer. Hardy and stunning, it thrives in soft, slightly acidic water and does best in species tanks or with other very peaceful fish. Males are brightly colored, while females are more subdued.

• Recommended For: Species-only or peaceful nano tanks

• Minimum Tank Size: 30 litres

• Temperature Range: 22–26°C

• pH Range: 6.0–7.0

• Recommended School Size: Best kept as pairs or trios (1 male with 1–2 females)

• Compatibility: Peaceful but best with non-aggressive, small species if mixed

• Max Size: 5–6 cm
