Tropheus duboisi
A true icon of Lake Tanganyika—bold personality, striking juvenile spots, and a must-have for experienced cichlid keepers
Tropheus duboisi is one of the most eye-catching and charismatic Tanganyikan cichlids. Juveniles are jet black with vibrant white or blue polka dots, transforming into adults with a dark body and a bright white or yellow band across the middle. Known for their social and often boisterous behavior, they thrive in large groups and require plenty of swimming space and rocky hiding spots. Best kept by aquarists familiar with cichlid dynamics, they reward proper care with captivating activity and beauty.
