The Two Stripe Apistogramma is a striking South American dwarf cichlid recognised for the two distinct horizontal bands that run along its body. Males display vibrant hues of blue, yellow, and red in the fins, especially during courtship, while females show stronger contrast and protective brood-care behaviour.

Ideal for planted aquariums with driftwood, leaf litter, and defined territories, this species thrives in warm, slightly acidic water. Peaceful by nature but territorial when breeding, they are best kept as a pair or in a carefully planned community with calm tankmates. Their manageable size and dynamic colour make them a standout in any dwarf cichlid setup.
