A colourful South American dwarf cichlid with elegant finnage and plenty of personality
The Agassizii Alenquer Apistogramma is a beautiful locality form of Apistogramma agassizii, prized for its vivid colouration, elongated body shape, and striking fin development. Males can develop strong red, orange, blue, and yellow tones depending on mood and maturity, while females are smaller and more subtly coloured.
These dwarf cichlids thrive in warm, soft, slightly acidic water with plenty of cover from plants, driftwood, leaf litter, and caves. They are generally peaceful with suitable community fish but can become territorial around their chosen cave, particularly when breeding. Their compact size and engaging behaviour make them an excellent centrepiece fish for planted South American-style aquariums.
