Apistogramma trifasciata (Three-Stripe Apisto)
Apistogramma trifasciata, commonly known as the Three-Stripe Apistogramma, is a beautiful and captivating dwarf cichlid known for the three dark horizontal bars running along its body. Males display more vivid coloration, often showing metallic blues, yellows, and elongated fin extensions, while females are smaller and more subtly marked. These fish are best kept in well-structured, planted aquariums with plenty of hiding spots and soft, slightly acidic water. Though generally peaceful, they can be territorial—especially during breeding.
