Bolivian Ram (Mikrogeophagus altispinosus)

The Bolivian Ram is a peaceful and beautifully colored dwarf cichlid that adds charm and personality to community aquariums. With its subtle golden body, hints of blue and orange, and striking red eyes, this cichlid is both elegant and hardy—making it an excellent choice for beginner and experienced aquarists alike. Unlike some of its more aggressive cichlid cousins, the Bolivian Ram is known for its calm, inquisitive nature and compatibility with a variety of tank mates. It thrives in planted aquariums with plenty of open space and hiding spots.

• Recommended For: Peaceful community or South American biotope tanks

• Minimum Tank Size: 75 litres

• Temperature Range: 22-27°C

• pH Range: 6.0-7.5

• Recommended School Size: Can be kept singly, in pairs, or small groups

• Compatibility: Peaceful; avoid aggressive or overly boisterous fish

• Max Size: 8 cm

If you have any requests for gender/colour etc we will do our best to accommodate them. Please note we can not always accommodate every request due to high stock turnover and what is available at the time. We move all fish sold online into separate holding tanks while they wait to be shipped.
