The Super Red Cockatoo Apistogramma is a selectively bred variant of Apistogramma cacatuoides, prized for its intense red fin extensions and striking contrast against a golden-to-silver body. Males develop dramatic, elongated dorsal rays and deep, saturated color, while females display softer yellows and reds, especially when breeding. Peaceful but territorial when spawning, Super Reds thrive in well-planted aquariums with caves, leaf litter, and gentle tankmates. Their manageable size and incredible coloration make them one of the most popular Apistos in the hobby.
