Daltons Coarse Scoria is a versatile, naturally porous volcanic material with a wide range of uses in aquariums, ponds, aquascaping, and filtration systems. Its coarse structure and high porosity make it particularly useful as biological filter media, providing extensive surface area for beneficial bacteria while allowing excellent water flow.
The lightweight, stable structure also makes coarse scoria an excellent backfill material for aquascapes, allowing height and contours to be created underneath decorative substrates without requiring large quantities of expensive aquasoil or sand. It can also be used directly as an aquarium or pond substrate where a natural, coarse volcanic appearance is desired.
