Ideal for Reef Aquariums
Balling Carbonate Mix is ideal for reef aquariums where alkalinity gradually decreases as corals and other calcifying organisms grow.
When used as part of the Fauna Marin Balling Light System, it allows KH supplementation to be adjusted according to the actual consumption of the aquarium.
Mixing Instructions
For a standard 5 litre stock solution:
Dissolve 500g of Fauna Marin Balling Carbonate Mix in approximately 3 litres of RO water.
Add:
25ml Fauna Marin Balling Light Trace 3
Mix thoroughly, then top up with RO water to approximately 5 litres.
Always add the Balling salt to the water, rather than adding water directly to the dry salt.
Using lukewarm RO water can help the product dissolve more easily.
Dosage
Dosage should be adjusted according to the measured alkalinity consumption of the individual aquarium.
As a guide:
10ml of prepared solution per 100 litres increases alkalinity by approximately 0.5 dKH.
Regularly test KH and adjust dosing so that alkalinity remains stable rather than allowing large fluctuations.
For consistent results, prepare each batch using the same concentration and measurements.
Recommended Stock Solution Ratio
Per 1 litre of finished stock solution:
- 100g Balling Carbonate Mix
- 5ml Balling Light Trace 3
This ratio can be scaled up or down depending on the size of your dosing container.
