The Featherfin Synodontis, Synodontis eupterus, is one of the most popular Synodontis species thanks to its stunning appearance and hardy nature. It features intricate brown and cream marbling across its body and a tall, flowing dorsal fin that resembles a feather — giving the species its name. Native to Africa’s Niger and Chad River basins, this peaceful yet active bottom-dweller thrives in well-oxygenated aquariums with driftwood, rocks, and hiding spots. Featherfins are nocturnal but quickly become bold and visible once settled, making them an attractive and useful addition to community setups.
