Festivum Cichlid (Mesonauta festivus)
Also known as the Flag Cichlid or Barred Cichlid

The Festivum Cichlid is a peaceful and elegant South American species known for its tall, laterally compressed body and distinctive black diagonal stripe that runs from the mouth through the eye. It has a gentle temperament compared to many other cichlids, making it suitable for well-managed community tanks. Festivums enjoy planted aquariums with open swimming space and calm tank mates. They are intelligent, personable, and relatively easy to care for—ideal for aquarists seeking a cichlid without aggressive tendencies.

Need to Know:

• Recommended For: Peaceful cichlid or community tanks

• Minimum Tank Size: 100 litres

• Temperature Range: 24–28°C

• pH Range: 6.0–7.5

• Recommended School Size: Can be kept singly, in pairs, or small groups

• Compatibility: Peaceful; compatible with similarly sized, non-aggressive fish

• Max Size: 12–15 cm
