Golden Eye Cichlid (Nannacara anomala)

A compact South American cichlid with shimmering scales and striking golden eyes

The Golden Eye Cichlid is a beautifully understated dwarf cichlid known for its iridescent blue-green body and vivid golden-yellow eyes. Males develop stronger colour and extended finnage, especially during breeding displays, while females display darker contrast and bold brood-care behaviour.

Hardy and adaptable, this species is well suited to planted aquariums with driftwood, caves, and defined territories. Generally peaceful outside of breeding periods, they can be kept in community setups with similarly sized, calm tankmates. Their manageable size and personality make them a great entry point into the world of dwarf cichlids.
