The Hillstream Loach is an intriguing species that stands out for its flattened body, which is specially adapted for living in fast-moving streams and rivers. Its unique appearance, with its broad, disk-like body and large pectoral fins, helps it cling to rocks in strong currents. These loaches are best kept in tanks that mimic their natural, fast-flowing habitat, with high oxygenation and water movement. They are peaceful and do well in groups, making them great additions to aquariums with other species that enjoy similar water conditions, such as mountain minnows or certain types of tetras. The Hillstream Loach is an excellent algae eater, especially in tanks with smooth surfaces.
