Hoplo Catfish

A hardy and peaceful armoured catfish with loads of personality

The Hoplo Catfish is a tough, active bottom-dweller well known for its armoured body, inquisitive nature, and peaceful temperament. With its attractive mottled patterning and whiskered face, this South American species brings both character and constant activity to the lower levels of the aquarium.

Unlike many catfish that remain hidden during the day, Hoplo Catfish are often out exploring, sifting through the substrate, and interacting with their surroundings. They thrive in aquariums with sand or fine gravel, driftwood, and plenty of open space to forage. Hardy and adaptable, they make an excellent addition to larger community aquariums and are well suited to both beginner and experienced fishkeepers.
