Lemonpeel Angelfish
Bring a burst of vibrant colour to your marine aquarium with the Lemonpeel Angelfish (Centropyge flavissima). This spectacular dwarf angelfish features an intense canary-yellow body, electric-blue edging along its fins and a distinctive blue ring surrounding each eye.
Bold, active and full of personality, the Lemonpeel Angelfish spends much of its day exploring rockwork and grazing across established surfaces. Its brilliant colouration makes it an immediate focal point in medium to large marine aquariums.
Why Choose a Lemonpeel Angelfish?
- Intense yellow colouration with electric-blue markings
- Active and engaging aquarium behaviour
- Compact dwarf angelfish species
- Grazes naturally across established live rock
- Excellent feature fish for a marine aquarium
- Hardy once settled into suitable conditions
Aquarium Requirements
The Lemonpeel Angelfish should be housed in an established aquarium of at least 250 litres. Provide plenty of mature live rock to create hiding places, grazing surfaces and defined territories.
This species is usually best kept as the only dwarf angelfish in the aquarium. It may become territorial towards other dwarf angels and fish with a similar shape, particularly once established.
Is the Lemonpeel Angelfish Reef Safe?
The Lemonpeel Angelfish is considered reef safe with caution. Individual fish may nip at corals, coral polyps or clam mantles, so it cannot be guaranteed safe in every reef aquarium.
Providing a spacious aquarium, abundant live rock and regular varied feeding may help reduce unwanted grazing, but fishkeepers with valuable or delicate corals should carefully consider the risk.
Feeding
Offer a varied omnivorous diet containing plenty of marine algae and vegetable-based nutrition. Suitable foods include:
- Spirulina-enriched marine pellets or flakes
- High-quality angelfish preparations
- Dried marine algae or seaweed
- Frozen mysis shrimp
- Frozen brine shrimp
- Other finely chopped marine foods
Feed small portions regularly to support strong colouration, healthy body condition and natural grazing behaviour.
