Pea Puffer (Carinotetraodon travancoricus)
Also known as the Dwarf Puffer or Malabar Pufferfish
The Pea Puffer is a tiny freshwater pufferfish bursting with personality and intelligence. Native to the rivers and lakes of India, this species is the smallest pufferfish in the world. Despite its size, the Pea Puffer can be feisty and territorial, making it best kept in species-only tanks or with careful consideration of tank mates. These inquisitive fish require densely planted aquariums with hiding spots and open swimming areas. They thrive on a varied diet of live or frozen foods such as bloodworms and snails, which also help keep their beaks trimmed.
