Pink & Green Flecked Acan Lord Fragment
The Pink & Green Flecked Acan Lord Fragment is a vibrant LPS coral featuring fleshy, rounded polyps with an eye-catching mix of pink and green colouration. Its contrasting flecks and strong feeding response make it an excellent feature coral for the lower areas of an established reef aquarium.
Commonly known as an Acan Lord, this coral is now scientifically classified as Micromussa lordhowensis. It is popular with reef keepers because of its bold colour, manageable care requirements and ability to gradually grow into a larger colony under stable conditions.
Why Choose This Acan Lord Fragment?
- Attractive pink and green colour combination
- Thick, fleshy polyps with distinctive patterns
- Suitable for established mixed reef aquariums
- Strong and entertaining feeding response
- Performs well under lower reef lighting
- Gradually develops additional polyps
- Excellent choice for the sandbed or lower rockwork
Lighting and Placement
Acan Lords generally prefer low to moderate lighting. Place the fragment on the sandbed or lower rockwork, particularly when first introducing it to the aquarium.
Avoid immediately exposing it to intense lighting, as excessive light can cause the coral to lose colour, remain retracted or become stressed. Any increase in lighting should be made gradually.
Water Flow
Provide low to moderate, indirect water flow. The flow should be sufficient to prevent debris from settling between the polyps without constantly blasting the coral’s fleshy tissue.
Strong or direct flow may prevent the polyps from fully expanding.
Feeding
Although this coral receives energy through photosynthesis, occasional target feeding can support faster growth, fuller polyps and stronger colouration.
Suitable foods include:
- Finely chopped mysis shrimp
- Small LPS coral pellets
- Frozen brine shrimp
- Powdered or suspended coral foods
- Other finely chopped marine foods
Feed a small amount once or twice per week and avoid leaving uneaten food in the aquarium.
Coral Compatibility
Allow clear space between the Acan Lord and neighbouring corals. Its fleshy polyps can sting nearby corals, particularly when feeding tentacles extend after the aquarium lights turn off.
