Pond Prime – Concentrated Pond Water Conditioner

Pond Prime is a highly concentrated water conditioner designed specifically for ornamental ponds.

Use it whenever adding tap water to your pond, performing a water change or setting up a new pond. Pond Prime removes chlorine and chloramine while also detoxifying ammonia and nitrite, helping make new water safer for fish.

A 500mL bottle treats over 37,000 litres, making it an extremely concentrated option for larger ponds.

How to Use

For normal chlorine and chloramine removal:

Use approximately 30mL per 2,300–2,650L of water.

Dose Pond Prime whenever untreated tap water is being added to the pond.

For unusually high ammonia or nitrite levels, Pond Prime can be dosed at a higher rate according to the directions on the bottle.

A slight sulphur smell from Pond Prime is completely normal.

Pond Prime vs Pond Stability

These products work extremely well together, but they do different jobs.

Pond Prime conditions tap water and helps protect fish from chlorine, chloramine, ammonia and nitrite.

Pond Stability adds beneficial bacteria to help establish and maintain biological filtration.

When setting up a new pond, we'd typically use Pond Prime to make the incoming tap water safe and Pond Stability to help establish the biofilter.

Any time you're putting Christchurch tap water directly into a fish pond, use a suitable water conditioner.

Don't assume that because you're only topping the pond up rather than performing a full water change that untreated tap water doesn't matter.

For large water changes, work out approximately how much new water you're adding and dose accordingly.

And remember:

Pond Prime can help protect fish during an ammonia or nitrite problem, but it doesn't fix the reason those compounds are present.

If ammonia or nitrite is showing on your test kit, check your filtration, fish stocking, feeding and biological cycle as well.
