Pond Stability – Beneficial Bacteria for Pond Cycling
Pond Stability is a concentrated beneficial-bacteria treatment designed to rapidly establish and support biological filtration in garden ponds and fish ponds.
It’s particularly useful when setting up a new pond, starting a new filter, after major filter maintenance, following medication, or whenever new fish are introduced.
Why Use Pond Stability?
-
Helps establish biological filtration
-
Supports the breakdown of ammonia and nitrite
-
Helps process organic pond waste
-
Can help reduce sludge buildup
-
Useful when starting new pond filters
-
Safe for fish, aquatic plants and other pond life when used as directed
How to Use
Shake well before use and turn off UV during treatment.
New Pond or New Filter
Day 1:
Dose 50mL per 400L of pond water.
Days 2–8:
Dose 25mL per 400L once daily for 7 days.
Ongoing Maintenance
For established ponds, use:
25mL per 400L once per month
It can also be used after water changes, when introducing new fish, or after medicating the pond.
Always follow the directions on the bottle.
When Should I Use Pond Stability?
We particularly recommend it when:
-
Setting up a new pond
-
Starting a new biological filter
-
Replacing or heavily cleaning filter media
-
Adding new fish
-
After treating the pond with medication
-
Re-establishing filtration after winter
Beneficial bacteria live primarily throughout your filter media and other surfaces in the pond, so maintaining a healthy biological filter is one of the most important parts of keeping pond water safe.
Pond Stability vs Pond Prime
These products do different jobs.
Pond Prime conditions new tap water and deals with chlorine and chloramine.
Pond Stability supplies beneficial bacteria to establish and support biological filtration.
When setting up a new pond or performing a significant water change, the two products can be used together as part of the overall process.
Simply Fish Recommends
Pond Stability helps establish the biofilter, but your water test tells you whether that biofilter is actually keeping up.
When cycling a new pond or adding a significant number of fish, keep testing ammonia and nitrite rather than assuming everything is safe because bacteria have been added.
Also avoid completely sterilising established filter media every time you clean your pond filter. The goal is to remove excessive waste while preserving the beneficial bacteria living inside the filter.
