Red Firefish (Nemateleotris magnifica)
Bright, elegant, and incredibly easy to keep—the Red Firefish is a go-to reef fish for adding clean colour and graceful movement to your aquarium. With its crisp white front half fading into a fiery red/orange tail and dorsal fin, it stands out instantly under reef lighting.
These fish are known for their calm, hovering behaviour, often floating just above the rockwork before darting back into their cave. They’re peaceful and reef safe, making them ideal for community setups—but like all firefish, they are excellent jumpers, so a secure lid is non-negotiable.
Red Firefish do best in tanks with plenty of rockwork and hiding spots, helping them feel secure and encouraging more natural, confident behaviour.
