Red & Green Acan Lord Colony
The Red & Green Acan Lord Colony is a beautiful LPS coral that brings rich colour, fleshy texture, and strong visual interest to the lower areas of a reef aquarium. Acan Lords are a long-standing favourite in the marine hobby, known for their large rounded polyps, hardy nature, and wide range of colour combinations.
This colony displays a classic red and green pattern, giving it a bold contrast that stands out beautifully on the sandbed or lower rockwork. Each individual polyp has its own circular shape and mouth, creating a textured, organic look across the colony. When happy, the polyps inflate during the day, giving the coral a full, healthy appearance.
Acan Lords are relatively slow-growing corals that gradually encrust and expand over time. At night, or when food is present in the water, they may extend short feeding tentacles from the centre of each polyp. This feeding response makes them a rewarding coral to keep and a great choice for reef keepers who enjoy target feeding their LPS corals.
Red & Green Acan Lord Colonies prefer low to moderate lighting, with a PAR range of around 50–150. Placement is best on the sandbed or lower rockwork, where the coral can receive gentle lighting and avoid excessive intensity. Strong light can cause stress or colour loss, so it is best to start them low and adjust carefully if needed.
Gentle to moderate indirect flow is ideal. The flow should be enough to keep the coral clean, but not so strong that the fleshy polyps stay retracted. Like most LPS corals, stable water parameters are key to long-term health, colour, and growth.
Although Acan Lords are photosynthetic, they benefit from occasional target feeding. Feeding once or twice a week with small meaty coral foods or dedicated LPS pellets can help encourage growth and maintain strong, healthy polyps.
Care Level: Easy to Moderate

Lighting: Low to Moderate, 50–150 PAR
Flow: Gentle to Moderate, indirect
Placement: Sandbed or lower rockwork
Temperament: Semi-aggressive
Feeding: Photosynthetic, benefits from target feeding
Salinity: 1.024–1.026 SG
Temperature: 24–26°C
Alkalinity: 8–12 dKH
Calcium: 400–450 ppm
Magnesium: 1300–1400 ppm
Acan Lords are generally manageable in mixed reef aquariums, but they can be semi-aggressive and may extend short sweeper tentacles. Leave a few inches of space around the colony to prevent contact with neighbouring corals.
With its bold red and green colouration, fleshy polyp structure, and reliable reef appeal, the Red & Green Acan Lord Colony is an excellent choice for adding colour and texture to a stable marine aquarium.
