The Red Neck Viejita Apistogramma is a stunning South American dwarf cichlid known for its bright red/orange throat (“neck”) and vibrant blue, yellow, and red accents across the body and fins. Males display extended finnage and intense colour, especially during courtship, while females show stronger contrast and excellent brood-care behaviour.

Ideal for planted aquariums with driftwood, leaf litter, and defined territories, this species thrives in warm, slightly acidic water. Peaceful by nature but territorial when breeding, they are best kept as a pair or in a carefully planned community with calm tankmates. Their manageable size and striking colour make them a standout choice for any dwarf cichlid setup.
