A peaceful South American cichlid with shimmering white spots and fascinating sand-sifting behavior. The White Spot Eartheater, scientifically known as satanoperca leucosticta, is a stunning and relatively peaceful cichlid native to the Amazon basin. Its metallic sheen, elegant body shape, and distinctive white spotting make it a standout choice for larger aquariums. Known as an "eartheater," it spends much of its time sifting through sandy substrates for food, a behavior that adds natural movement to the tank. Best kept in groups, this species thrives in soft, slightly acidic water with plenty of open space and hiding spots.

• pH Range: 5.5–7.0

• Recommended School Size: 5 or more
