The Zebra Pleco (L046) is one of the most iconic and desirable plecos in the aquarium hobby. Featuring striking black and white zebra-like striping across the body and fins, this species stands out dramatically against dark substrates and driftwood-heavy aquascapes.

Unlike many larger plecos, Zebra Plecos stay relatively compact and are more carnivorous in diet, preferring protein-rich foods over algae grazing. They thrive in warm, highly oxygenated aquariums with strong flow, caves, and pristine water quality. Peaceful and shy by nature, they are best suited to experienced aquarists looking to keep a true collector’s species.
